Elevate Your Talents & Skills with 40+ Extracurricular Opportunities

At King’s College Latvia, we offer an extensive range of after-school clubs and activities designed to enrich students' learning experiences—physically, creatively, and intellectually—from Nursery onwards.

In addition to academic excellence, we emphasise a balanced approach to work and play, promoting healthy, holistic development. Our diverse offerings provide expert coaching from teachers and external partners in visual and performing arts, sports, languages, business, technology, cooking, and more. These activities help students develop their unique talents, prepare for future careers, and enjoy a well-rounded school experience that fosters creativity, leadership, and character development. By joining an after-school club, students will not only enhance their technical abilities but also strengthen key life skills such as confidence, resilience, organisation, teamwork, and time management.

Each year, we strive to expand and enhance our offerings, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to explore new interests and reach their full potential. Club offerings may change each term depending on popularity and new partnerships, and we are always open to suggestions from our community.

Traditionally, sports and team play have been central to physical and mental development in British schools. At King’s College Latvia, we provide first-class sporting facilities and a wealth of opportunities for students to engage in sports throughout their education. We prioritise your child’s health alongside intellectual growth by offering physical education within the curriculum and competitive sports opportunities after school, including participation in the Latvian International Schools Sports League and the Badminton Federation. Working towards shared goals fosters a sense of achievement, while being part of a team teaches cooperation, strategy, and fair play. We also encourage students to be gracious in both victory and defeat.

In addition, our school offers a wide range of extracurricular sports clubs for all age groups, providing challenges that develop students both mentally and physically.

Academic Clubs

Our students can join various academic clubs throughout their time at school, helping them reach their full potential across the curriculum. Discover the different academic club options below:

We understand that many parents struggle to find time to help their children with homework after school. Sometimes, families even resort to expensive tutors for relatively simple tasks. Instead, why not try our homework club, where your child stays at school for an extra hour and receives support from an expert teacher in an ideal learning environment?

Older students in IGCSE and IB may also need guidance on how to approach study and homework efficiently, as their workload increases at these stages. We offer daily after-school sessions where IGCSE and IB students can receive bespoke support with their homework and study tasks.

Secondary school students who join our maths and science clubs will have the opportunity to participate in competitions, which significantly enhances their enjoyment and learning of these subjects.

In our Phonics club, Year 1 students will practice key phonics skills appropriate to their age and ability. These skills will support their spelling and writing development, boost their confidence, and reinforce what they have studied in class.

The Reading Club is meant for Primary students only, who will enhance their reading skills with a native-speaking teacher. This club supports home reading by encouraging students to engage with books through group reading, drama, and games. In addition, they will learn new vocabulary and develop a lifelong love for books.

Our Spanish Club is meant as a fun and dynamic introduction to the Spanish language for our primary students. It will be particularly beneficial for students in Years 3 to 5, who have fewer Spanish lessons during the week.

The Chess club is an excellent opportunity to learn and improve your chess skills. There are two levels of chess available. We aim to build on our success in chess competitions and prove that King's College Latvia's students are the most strategic thinkers in the country!

Career-Focused Clubs for Diverse Pathways

All extracurricular activities at our school equip students with hard and soft skills relevant to specific careers, such as sports, music, theatre, dance, and technology. These activities also broaden opportunities in various fields by enhancing professional abilities and life skills while enriching personal experiences. King's College Latvia is also proud to offer clubs for targeted career training and real-life skill development, such as our construction club for aspiring architects and civil engineers, Model United Nations for careers in diplomacy and politics, Media Studies for future journalists and media professionals, a cooking club for aspiring chefs or skilled home cooks, a coding club for careers in programming, robotics, and IT, and a business club that offers financial insights, an entrepreneurial mindset, and hands-on experience, including business plan creation.
