A World of Limitless Opportunities Awaits Your Child at Our School

A Message from the Head of School

Adele Stanford

We provide a unique educational environment that puts children and their families at the heart of all we do. Our curriculum is designed to inspire students, both young and old, and to create a desire to learn more. Our mission is to ensure students love learning and to set the foundation for them to become lifelong learners.

At our school, each student is an individual, and as such, we ensure that they receive a learning journey as unique as they are. Our teachers are trained to respond to the needs and interests of the students when planning their learning. We aim to ensure that the latest thinking about learning is displayed in our classrooms, with a special focus on helping students understand how and why they learn. We embed metacognitive approaches and responsive teaching in all we do.

We believe that learning does not need to be confined to the classroom and include Outdoor Learning as part of our school curriculum for every child in the primary years. We also commit to offering travel experiences, giving our older students in Year 6 and above the opportunity to learn in environments beyond Latvia and to appreciate how visiting other countries can enhance their learning journey.

By linking subjects and providing practical learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom, our students embrace the IB learner profile attributes, a key driver of the school’s provision. These attributes ensure that our students grow into young people who actively seek to change the world for the better.

Our students receive an exemplary academic education and are equipped with the social and critical thinking skills to embrace the challenges of an ever-evolving world. We believe in values-based education, and therefore, our British values permeate everything we do. Children gain a rich ethical vocabulary at King’s College Latvia and are introduced to the idea of service from an early age, whether by helping their peers or younger students within the school or actively participating in supporting members of the wider community.

Learners develop an understanding of Latvian culture, values, and heritage while growing into globally-minded individuals. We take our social responsibilities very seriously at King’s College Latvia, and our students are active supporters of both local and international charities.

We see each of our students as a future leader, nurturing these skills and giving them opportunities to take on many responsibilities within the school community. Our students are members of a house team and work together to collect house points and encourage friendly competition between the houses. Our aim is for our students to become responsible and proactive members of local, national, and international communities.

It would give me great pleasure to welcome you and your family to our school for a visit and to have the opportunity to share with you our very special community.

Exceptional Curricula

Exceptional British & International Curricula

Our British curriculum is accredited by the BSO and Penta, and is designed to meet the needs of our pupils at every stage of their development. Our programme is based on the UK National Curriculum, offering IGCSEs, and the globally-recognised IB Diploma. Each programme from Pre-Nursery to Sixth Form promotes inquiry-based learning, with a focus on a hands-on, practical education.

Our educational journey is divided into three distinct stages, following programmes approved by Latvia's International Schools Law. These programmes are recognised by member states of the European Union and NATO. All of our programmes are taught following Section 7 of Latvia’s International Schools Law, which requires the inclusion of Latvian studies as part of the international programme.
